The book of Nehemiah is all about the spiritual reformation of Israel. The return of Israel to the Promised Land, the restoration of the Jerusalem, but most importantly the spiritual reform of the people. All throughout Scripture God is explicitly clear that we are to follow Him with our heart, soul, and mind. God should be the primary recipient of our love, attention, and devotion. Israel had failed to do that, and under Nehemiah the people are confronted with their sins and failures.
