Christ's All-Consuming Compassion

People love stories.  They delight us as children as we hear of far off lands, adventures, and dreams.  The reason we love stories so much is because we each have one.  Our lives are stories, of who we are, what we have experienced, and even what we hope to accomplish.  Stories sometimes help us escape reality, but they also bring reality into great perspective.

As David was living in pride, hiding his sin, it was a story that broke his heart.  For months he hid his sin from others, although I am sure people had their suspicions.  Everyone was afraid to approach David and talk about the real issue, and in his pride he was confident, until one day the prophet Nathan told him a story.

A story broke David of his pride, self-love, and hard heart.  Today we will look at three stories, told by Jesus to induce us to recognize our own arrogance and self-love.  In all three stories someone is moved with compassion and responds like Christ.
