Crete is saturated with self-centered people. The society is built on a pursuit of self-gratification and pursuit of individual success. This problem most definitely infiltrated the church. Paul knows that Titus will be battling this fleshly lust of self-pursuit inside the church. Before the church can be effective evangelistically, the church needs to “set in order” the things that remain to be done.
