Moses is about to be challenged by God to face the very people that rejected him 40 years earlier. Moses is an emotionally, sensitive man and apparently has deep wounds from his earlier rejection. For 40 years he has lived as a simple shepherd in the desert. Now as he stands before the burning bush, his forgotten fears and pains grip his heart, and he offers excuses to God.
