It is interesting to note as well, as we begin this study, that Levi, or Matthew (same disciple), had only recently been called by Jesus. The teachings of the sermon, must have made a profound impact on this young tax collector, as he went from being a despised opposer of Israel, to a beloved disciple. Jesus poured His life and truth into Matthew, and this sermon became the foundation of what it meant to follow Jesus.
